Charles D. Fritch MD, FACS
Charles D. Fritch MD, FACS is a board-certified ophthalmologist, founder of Fritch Eye Care Medical Center, and Medical Director of a fully equipped Medicare-approved Ambulatory Center. He is active in providing the highest quality of eye care and modern ophthalmic services to the community.
A pioneer in his field, Dr. Fritch has helped develop modern surgical techniques in cataract and retina/vitreous surgery. He holds patent related to surgical advances in lens implantation and endoscopic laser surgery.
Dr. Fritch was born in Iowa. He received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska. Following his internship in family medicine, he served two years as a flight surgeon for the United States Army. He completed his residency in ophthalmology through the UCLA program at Kern Medical Center in 1974. In 1977, he established the Fritch Eye Care Medical Center which has grown to become Kern County’s comprehensive eye health care center.
Dr. Fritch served as co-director for Cataract and Corneal Fellowship Program at the University of California, Irvine for six years. He conducted numerous educational seminars and surgeries in many countries including Austria, China, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, and Switzerland. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
